Subject Matter Expert – BRX (Bioreactors & Cell Culture)
We are seeking a highly skilled and driven Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Bioreactors and Cell Culture to play a key role in Cellcolabs’ BRX program – our next-generation bioreactor-based platform for large-scale cell therapy manufacturing. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience from biotech or ATMP settings, deep technical knowledge of bioreactor systems, and a passion for developing robust, scalable, and GMP-compliant manufacturing processes.
This is a specialist role with strategic impact, requiring independence, flexibility, and the ability to work across several concurrent projects in a fast-moving environment. You will be part of Cellcolabs’ internal expert team and report to the BRX Program Lead.
About Cellcolabs
Cellcolabs is a pioneering biotech company focused on the development and manufacturing of mesenchymal stem cell-based therapies. Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs) have shown groundbreaking potential to cure and treat a myriad of diseases and ailments. Our mission is to industrialize high-quality cell therapy manufacturing to enable global clinical and commercial use. As part of this journey, we are scaling up a next-generation, bioreactor-based production platform through the BRX program, covering process development, assay development, lab and facility construction, and GMP readiness.
Cellcolabs is based on 20 years of research from Karolinska Institutet and is approved for GMP production of ATMPs by the Swedish Medical Products Agency. We are founded and backed by some of Sweden’s foremost health and life science entrepreneurs as well as Norrsken. Our HQ is in Stockholm, Sweden, with operations and sales across the world.
The Role
As SME BRX, you will act as the technical expert on bioreactor-based cell cultivation processes within the BRX program. You will support the development, optimization, and tech transfer of scalable, GMP-ready manufacturing processes. You will collaborate closely with process engineers, QA, QC, regulatory, and facility design teams, as well as with external vendors and consultants.
This full-time role reports to the CPO and is based in the office in Stockholm, Sweden, and includes international travelling.

- Contribute to GMP process design, process validation, and documentation.
- Act as technical interface to vendors, partners, and engineering teams.
- Troubleshoot technical challenges and provide hands-on support across multiple active projects.
- Ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and internal quality standards.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in bioreactor-based cell cultivation in biotech/pharma/ATMP environments.
- Deep understanding of adherent cell culture, ideally with experience in mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs).
- Proven experience with GMP manufacturing and tech transfer.
- Familiarity with scale-up principles, single-use bioreactors, and adherent systems (e.g., microcarriers, fixed-bed).
- Independent, structured, and comfortable working across several parallel workstreams.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in interdisciplinary teams.
- Fluent in English; Swedish is a plus.
Valuable Assets
- Prior experience in ATMP development or manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience with automated bioreactor control systems.
