Research Engineer – BRX (Bioreactor Program)
We are looking for a curious, driven, and hands-on Research Engineer to join our growing BRX team at Cellcolabs. This is an exciting opportunity for someone early in their career who wants to gain experience in advanced cell therapy manufacturing and actively contribute to the development of large-scale bioreactor-based processes for adherent cell lines.
You will work closely with experienced scientists, engineers, and project managers and become a key part of a cross-functional team developing the next generation of scalable, GMP-compliant production processes for mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) therapies.

The Role
As Research Engineer – BRX, you will support process development, lab-scale experiments, and technology evaluation for adherent cell cultivation in bioreactors. You will work both in the lab and in coordination with other teams to help design, execute, and document experiments and pilot runs. You’ll have the opportunity to grow into more responsibility and lead parts of the work over time.
This is a full-time permanent position and will report to the BRX program lead. The position is based in the office in Stockholm, Sweden, and includes international travelling.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct lab experiments and process development activities focused on adherent cell culture and bioreactors.
- Assist with scale-up studies, protocol development, and technology screening.
- Support data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and project managers across teams.
- Take responsibility for assigned sub-projects or technical tasks.
- Contribute to lab routines, documentation (GxP), and process optimization activities.
Requirements
- MSc in Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Cell Biology, or related field.
- Hands-on experience in cell culture (preferably adherent cells).
- Exposure to bioreactors, bioprocessing, or ATMPs is a strong plus.
- 0–3 years of industry experience in biotech, biopharma, or academic/industrial labs.
- A strong sense of responsibility, self-drive, and ability to work independently.
- Strong ability to write plans and reports
- Excellent communication and team skills.
- Fluent in English (Swedish is a plus).
Valuable Assets
- Experience with mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs).
- Knowledge of GMP environments.
- Prior internship or thesis work in a biotech/biopharma setting.
