Clinical Research Scientist - Biomarkers and Translational Medicine
Are you an analytical, forward-thinking, and goal-oriented person with experience in biomarker research related to immunology, chronic inflammation, or age-related diseases? Are you a medical doctor with clinical experience or a PhD or postdoc interested in working with cutting-edge cell therapies and contributing to groundbreaking research – then take the opportunity to apply for the role as Clinical Research Scientist at Cellcolabs.
About Cellcolabs
Cellcolabs is an impact start-up specializing in the industrial GMP production of high-quality Mesenchymal Stromal Cells (MSCs). Our mission is to prevent and treat diseases by making high quality stem cells available and affordable. We do that by industrial scale production and collaborations. Based at Campus Solna, Cellcolabs builds on over 20 years of stem cell research and clinical expertise from Karolinska Institutet.
We are expanding through a series of clinical trials across different locations globally and need to expand our team with one more highly motivated and ambitious Clinical Research Scientist to interpret and communicate trial participants’ results and generate research findings on the ICH-GCP compliant clinical data in these trials.
The role
As a member of our Clinical Success team, you will be responsible for analysing how MSCs influence biomarkers related to inflammation, immune regulation, and cellular aging, as well as developing strategies to optimize our therapies in collaboration with the RnD team. If you are a medical doctor and/or a driven scientist with a passion for translational research, we want you on our team!
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret large datasets generated within our clinical trials from initiation to close-out, focusing on long-term follow-up data in line with study protocols and quality standards.
- Generate research findings from exploratory laboratory test results on +60 biomarkers, study questionnaires and qualitative data from follow-up visits between participants and investigators.
- Analyse and draw conclusions on individual laboratory results on biomarkers related to inflammation, immunoprofiling and age-related diseases to be communicated externally in meetings with patients within our patient-funded trials.
- Compile and present research findings internally and externally (conferences, scientific publications, regulatory reports).
- Review validation reports and select clinical and laboratory partners in line with necessary quality standards, as well as build and maintain effective relationships with external laboratory partners within the clinical trials.
- Collaborate interdisciplinary internally with teams in preclinical research, clinical development, and business strategy to advance our MSC-based therapies and product development initiatives.
- Build the foundation and structure for the clinical biomarker data analytics as the company grows (we are a startup where we build ground as we go).
Qualifications and requirements
We want you to grow together with us and we will do our best for you to develop and enjoy work. For this role you will need the following:
- Clinical experience as medical doctor and/or PhD or postdoc experience in cell biology, immunology, molecular biology, biomedicine, precision medicine or a related field in inflammation and/or biomarker research.
- Experience of quantifying biomarkers such as inflammatory cytokines, lymphocytes, telomere length, DNA methylation, clinical chemistry markers and other MSC relevant parameters using advanced techniques (Luminex, qPCR, flow cytometry, NGS etc).
- Strong communication skills and excellent skills in written and spoken Swedish and English – partly to be used in conversations with trials participants.
- Basic knowledge of statistics and coding.
- Bonus: Experience in bioinformatics and AI-driven analyses.
- You are self-motivated, analytical, and innovative – you thrive in a fast-paced startup environment where you take ownership and make an impact without compromising on quality and scientific integrity.
- You have a flexible mindset and capability to operate in a company where multiple logics meet - ranging from GMP production of MSCs, B2B sales to clinical partners, development and operations within clinical trials and B2C marketing and diagnostics streams in our trials.
What We Offer
The role will involve collaboration and teamwork as well as independent work. The role may involve international travel, with our offices in Solna, Sweden as the base.
